Relationships can at times be a great source of distress and anxiety; sometimes it’s easy to feel stuck and unable to move forwards. You may be having difficulties with communication, infidelity, intimacy, sexual difficulties, or perhaps you just can’t seem to get along anymore and you’re not sure why. Whether you are experiencing difficulties within your relationship, or find it difficult to form lasting relationships, counselling can give you the space you need to explore and understand these issues.
I provide a safe and non-judgemental environment for you to discuss and think about the issues you would like to address. Counselling can help you to see the recurring patterns that underpin your relationships and understand the interactions between you and your partner. It is an opportunity to think about how you fit together as a couple and through this understanding form a more intimate and closer relationship.
Psychosexual therapy will involve an assessment of the sexual issue, including any associated medical factors. Common issues are:
-Low desire/differences in desire in a couple
My name is Tracey Cooke and I am a qualified couple counsellor and psychosexual therapist working with couples and individuals on a wide range of relationship issues.
I trained at the Tavistock Centre for Couple Relationships, a leading institute in the field of couple relationships.
I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP) and The College of Sexual and Relationship Therapists (COSRT)
I work with individuals and couples of all backgrounds and welcome LGBT clients.
Our first meeting gives us the opportunity to discuss:
- The presenting issues
- What you’d like to achieve from counselling
- Any questions you have about the counselling process
- How we go forwards. It may be that you’d like to begin ongoing sessions immediately, or you may like to come back for a second consultation to give you time to reflect on our first meeting.
Can I attend without my partner?
Yes - if you are in a relationship it is preferable for you to attend with your partner. However if this is not possible then you can attend on your own.
If I’m not in a relationship can I still come for counselling?
Yes – we can think about patterns that might be repeated in your relationships and how you interact with others. Perhaps you’re finding it difficult to commit to a relationship and we can also think about why that might be.
How many sessions will I need?
This will depend on the issues that you would like to discuss. In some circumstances we may decide to arrange a limited number of sessions or we may agree to meet on an ongoing basis.
How often do I need to attend?
We’ll meet on a weekly basis at the same time each week. Any cancelled sessions are required to be paid for. For absences discussed in advance I will endeavour to rearrange your appointment, subject to availability.
Couple counselling - £90 per session
Individual counselling - £70 per session
All sessions are 50 minutes
